Published on Mar 23, 2021
New York City is beautiful during the summer, and Cogito is excited to share that we bring our students to experience the city in its prime season. Our tour begins with the best universities in the world.
If you want to see the place where Woody Allen, Angelina Jolie, and Anne Hathaway spent long nights studying, you definitely should go there.
The Triumphal Arch of Washington Square Park
New York University is one of the biggest universities in the world with 230+ areas of study available to Undergraduates. The main campus of New York University is located in a respectable area of Lower Manhattan – Greenwich Village. The Triumphal Arch of Washington Square Park, located nearby, is a symbol of the university, even though it does not belong to them. All the campuses have their own transport system, which makes traveling around the campuses easier.
Columbia University of New York
The second university we will explore is Columbia. The main campus of Columbia University is located in the Upper West Side of Manhattan – a prestigious area of New York. University buildings occupy 6 city blocks in the area of 116th Street and Broadway. Additionally, Columbia University has an extensive network of old underground tunnels. Some of them are even available to the public! The number of famous graduates of Columbia University is impressive. 4 presidents of the USA, 97 Nobel laureates, and 25 “Oscar” holders all graduated from this prestigious University.
The Statue of Liberty
The Statue of Liberty is the most famous in the world, and we’ll stop right nearby. An interesting fact is that today, the monument is green. Many years ago the statue was a bright gold-orange color. This is not visible in black and white photos, but this fact is confirmed by historical references.
The Metropolitan Museum of Fine Arts
The Metropolitan Museum of Art is the largest art museum in the world. The Metropolitan Museum holds more than 2 million works of art, covering a period of about 5000 years. The Museum will be especially special for those who want to experience history told through art. Why? Because there you will be a guest of almost all European countries at the same time.
Times Square, in the Heart of New York City
Times Square is the neon heart of megapolis. The square lives in the heart of New York, on the island of Manhattan. It is one of the main attractions of New York, and the most visited attraction in the world. Every year, about 40 million tourists come to see multinational culture, Broadway shows, and take pictures on the red steps!
Rockefeller Center
Extravagant, impressive Rockefeller Center is fully executed in Art Deco style and attracts tourists like a magnet every year. Do you remember the Christmas Tree from Home Alone 2? It makes its home in Rockefeller Center! The Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree is the main attribute of the winter holidays in New York. Today, the Rockefeller Center has 19 buildings, 14 of which are high-rise buildings.
Central Park
Since 1908, Central Park has appeared in more than 240 films! This is one of the most attractive public parks globally and spans nearly half of the island of Manhattan! One of the most interesting facts about the park: although the Park looks very natural, almost all of it is the result of manual labor. Yes, all these 25,000 trees, 7 reservoirs, and forests are created by landscape designers.
Of course, we can still describe all the charms, places of entertainment, and beautiful sights in New York City for a long time. Although, it’s better to see once than to hear 100 times. The city that never sleeps is waiting for you!
