About the school

Founded in 1851, Buffalo Seminary is one of the oldest all-girls schools in New York State. SEM is an independent day and boarding school for college-bound girls. The school’s urban campus maximizes the benefits of city living: parks, galleries, architecture, shops and cafes are steps away. SEM’s campus includes five historic homes, numerous Harkness table classrooms, skylit art studio, science labs and technology labs with a digital printer and NAO robot. The contemporary Performing Arts Center (black box theater), MAC lab, darkroom, squash courts, and a fitness and erg room ensure an outstanding school experience. At SEM academics are extremely rigorous, and creative, independent thinking is valued. An average class size of 12 and Harkness table learning guarantees individual attention from teachers. The 1:1 tablet program, STEM, and digital literacy curricula give girls competency and inspiration to pursue science in college and career. As a result Buffalo Seminary students enter the top colleges in the world including MIT, Yale and Cornell. The school also boasts championship sports programs in rowing and tennis.

“I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for being patient, understanding, caring towards me for the past year. The scholarship helped a lot in getting my visa. You sure do know how to do a brilliant work and if there is any way I could take a survey about your services at Cogito, I would give you a 10 out of 10.”
